Here’s How Cardano Millionaires Stirred The Pot Again

Here’s How Cardano Millionaires Stirred The Pot Again

Cardano’s rebound is pulling both whales and the crowd back in — and the on-chain read is stronger than a simple squeeze story.

According to Santiment, ADA’s market cap is up about 42% since September 16, with price climbing from roughly $0.19 to about $0.27. That move has been accompanied by a clear jump in large-holder activity.

Whales are back in the tape

Santiment flagged 413 Cardano transactions worth at least $100,000 in a single day, the highest whale-activity print since June 4. That is a meaningful spike, not noise on the margin.

The crowd followed. ADA’s social dominance hit 1.16%, its highest reading of 2026, showing Cardano has forced its way back into the broader conversation after months of quieter attention.

Not just a short squeeze

Some coverage framed the rally as short covering, pointing to earlier soft derivatives conditions. Santiment’s data pushes back on that as the full explanation.

From October 3 to October 5, ADA rose about 10%. Over the same stretch:

  • Open interest rose about 25% to $304 million, the highest daily close since at least early April
  • Measured in ADA, OI still rose 13%, pointing to new positioning rather than price alone inflating dollar OI
  • Whale transactions on October 5 ran about 2.2x the September 7–October 2 weekday average
  • Social volume also ran above that same baseline

Funding did flip from its most negative reading of the prior month on October 2 into positive territory, so some short covering likely helped. But covering reduces open interest. Rising OI says leverage was being added, not just squeezed out.

What’s feeding the narrative

Santiment also tied the attention spike to fresh project flow. RealFi launched on Cardano mainnet on October 1, while discussion around Leios, Fireblocks support, and new institutional integrations has helped drive Cardano’s strongest social stretch of the year.

That combination truly matters: Cardano’s (ADA) price is slowly going up, big-time players are active, social dominance is elevated, and more catalysts may come ahead with the popular network’s side-chain developments.

Updated version 1 - Reports indicate Firmus is considering adjusting its $5 billions IPO plan, while Australia's Maas Group shares plunged 30%.

Reuters, October 8 – On Thursday, Maas Group's (MGH.AX) shares plummeted by as much as 30% following reports that Nvidia (NVDA.O)-backed AI company Firmus is considering adjusting the terms of its much-anticipated $5 billion IPO. The stock fell to AUD 4.47, marking its largest intraday drop and the lowest point since May 6, wiping about AUD 694 million ($483.37 million) off the construction services company’s market capitalization. Key details: - Maas holds a 3.2% stake in the data center operator and had previously pledged an additional AUD 300 million at a per-share price of AUD 230 for both common and preferred stock earlier in August (link). - In an exchange filing, Maas stated that speculation about whether the IPO would proceed as scheduled has put market sentiment under pressure and added that it is not aware of any undisclosed information to explain the trading situation. - Firmus lists OpenAI as an anchor customer and is preparing what would be the second-largest IPO in Australian history (link). Reports earlier this week suggested the company might lower its offering price from AUD 11 per share. - If this listing proceeds smoothly, it would be Australia’s largest IPO in nearly 30 years, second only to the approximately $10 billion IPO by leading telecom operator Telstra (TLS.AX) in 1997. - Prior to Thursday’s sharp drop, Maas Group’s shares had already risen about 44% over the past 12 months, with investors valuing its link to AI-driven data center construction. - Firmus has not yet responded to Reuters’ request for comment.
