Shiba Inu Forms First Double Death Cross of October: Is 'Uptober' in Trouble?

UTodayUToday2026/10/09 07:03

Shiba Inu (SHIB) has produced double death-cross signals on its short-term charts, raising fresh doubts over whether the much-awaited "Uptober" rally can still occur.

A death cross is when a shorter-term moving average crosses below a longer-term one, which traders see as a sign that momentum may be fading. In this case, the MA 50 drops below the MA 200 in a bearish crossover, a death cross.

This appeared on the hourly and the two-hour charts, marking double death cross signals on these short-term timeframes. A double death cross attracts attention as it suggests bearish pressure across more than one moving-average setup.

The double death cross signals follow Shiba Inu's first daily golden cross in the last two years. Shiba Inu last week formed a golden cross on its daily chart—the first since November 2024—sparking optimism of positive price action. Shiba Inu rallied after its golden cross in November 2024; SHIB rose to $0.0000334 in December 2024.

October, known as "Uptober," is generally a positive month for cryptocurrencies. However, the double death cross puts the "Uptober" narrative under pressure. Rather than confirming an October rally, the signal suggests SHIB may need to regain key technical levels and rebuild momentum before bulls can regain control.

SHIB price action

At the time of writing, SHIB was down 1.36% in the last 24 hours to $0.000005405, in line with the broader market drop as investors reacted to minutes from the Federal Reserve's latest meeting published on Wednesday, which showed officials expect they will raise interest rates again before the end of the year to head off inflation.

Investors expect that the Fed might keep rates on hold at its next meeting on Oct. 28 and pull the trigger on a hike on Dec. 9. They will also await the release of the weekly initial jobless claims on Thursday and the Michigan Consumer Sentiment Preliminary for October on Friday.

Shiba Inu is down after reaching a high of $0.000006018 on October 5 and is now in its third consecutive day of declines. SHIB has fallen below the support at $0.00000544 (50-day MA) and is testing the next support at $0.00000523 (200-day MA).

Interpretation - What is the low-frequency spectrum obtained by SpaceX for Starlink Mobile?

Harshita Mary Varghese, Reuters, October 9 - SpaceX SPCX.O has agreed to acquire a portfolio of low-band spectrum licenses covering the entire United States, in a deal reportedly valued at $8 billion. The company is seeking to expand its business beyond satellite internet and become a major competitor in the U.S. mobile market. SpaceX revealed its plans to enter the mobile service sector during its first earnings call in August. This announcement briefly weighed on the company’s stock price, and shares of the three major U.S. wireless carriers—AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon—were also affected as investors assessed the potential competitive threat. What is low-band spectrum? Low-band spectrum refers to radio waves that travel further and penetrate buildings better compared to higher frequencies, making them suitable for wide-area mobile network coverage. In contrast, mid-band and high-band spectrums can transmit more data at faster speeds but have a smaller coverage area. SpaceX has agreed to purchase up to 14 MHz of paired 800 MHz low-band spectrum licenses from Grain Management and plans to develop a hybrid architecture for Starlink Mobile, combining terrestrial infrastructure with satellite connectivity. How is the U.S. spectrum licensing system structured? Commercial spectrum is a scarce resource in the U.S., regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which typically allocates licenses for specific frequencies and geographic areas via auctions or other authorization processes. License holders must comply with technical rules and deployment requirements, and transfers of licenses usually require regulatory approval before obligations are fulfilled. The spectrum license deal recently struck by SpaceX is pending FCC approval. Which low-band spectrum do the three major carriers hold? AT&T’s low-band spectrum includes the 700 MHz and 850 MHz bands, as well as 600 MHz spectrum licenses acquired this July through the purchase of EchoStar. Verizon holds spectrum in the 700 MHz and 850 MHz bands, while T-Mobile’s low-band holdings include 600 MHz and 700 MHz spectrum. What are the plans for STARLINK MOBILE? The company plans to integrate these spectrum licenses into its next-generation satellite system, while also deploying terrestrial radio equipment and antennas on communication towers and rooftops. The FCC this week approved Starlink Mobile’s application for its second-generation (Gen2) satellite constellation, authorizing SpaceX to launch 15,000 satellites globally optimized for the 2 GHz spectrum.
