MT newswire2026/10/09 19:4303:43 PM EDT, 10/09/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eldorado Gold (ELD.TO) said on Friday that its Skouries copper-gold mine in Greece has been designated as a strategic project under the European Union's Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA). Skouries recently began operations and is expected to become a significant producer of both copper and gold over its 20-year mine life, Eldorado said in a news release. "The designation of Skouries as a Strategic Project underscores its importance not only to Greece, but also to Europe as a whole," said Eldorado Chief Executive Officer Christian Milau. "As one of the largest new copper-gold mines in Europe, Skouries is positioned to support the secure and responsible supply of critical raw materials that are essential to economic growth, industrial competitiveness and the energy transition." The CRMA was adopted to strengthen the European Union's access to critical raw materials and reduce dependence on external sources of supply. Projects are selected based on their potential contribution to European supply security, technical feasibility, and sustainability. Eldorado shares were last seen up CA$1.20 at CA$53.63, on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Price: 53.61, Change: +1.18, Percent Change: +2.25
