Traders Increase Bets on Rate Hikes -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/10/14 12:59By Sam Goldfarb
Wall Street traders have dialed up bets on an October rate hike after Wednesday's firm inflation reading-but they still think the central bank likely won't tighten policy so soon.
Federal-funds futures recently showed traders see a 35% chance of a hike this month, according to CME Group, up from 22% Tuesday.
The inflation report has tilted the odds toward more rate hikes next year. Traders now see a slightly better than 50% chance of four or more hikes between now and the end of next October. That was up from 42% on Tuesday.
