Gildan Activewear's Quarterly Results Seen Facing Demand Headwinds, UBS Says

MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/15 19:00
03:00 PM EDT, 10/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Gildan Activewear (GIL) is expected to report weaker than expected quarterly results as volatile demand and macroeconomic uncertainty weigh on earnings, UBS said in a note Thursday. UBS expects softer demand in the printwear market to limit restocking and sees recent price cuts by Walmart (WMT) and Target (TGT) as an additional headwind for HanesBrands and retail operations. The brokerage lowered its earnings forecasts for fiscal 2026 to 2028, citing weaker revenue expectations and higher selling, general and administrative expenses. UBS said Gildan retains opportunities to gain market share in adjacent categories, achieve cost synergies and benefit from the sale of HanesBrands' Australian business. UBS maintained the company's buy rating and lowered its price target to $71 from $111. Price: 41.89, Change: +0.77, Percent Change: +1.86
