Reuters, October 20 - HalliburtonHAL.N reported third-quarter profits on Tuesday that exceeded Wall Street expectations, as increased demand for its oilfield equipment in Latin America offset sluggish activity in the Middle East caused by prolonged conflicts.
The company's share price rose 6% in pre-market trading.
Revenue in Latin America grew by nearly 12.6%, reaching $1.1 billion.
According to data compiled by London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), the U.S. oilfield services provider posted adjusted earnings per share of 60 cents for the three months ended September 30, while analysts had expected an average of 58 cents.
"We are experiencing one of the most severe energy disruptions in history, which has persisted for three months now. I anticipate that efforts to restore production, rebuild inventories, and bolster energy security will drive multi-year growth in demand for oilfield services," said Halliburton CEO Jeff Miller in a statement.
