Taking questions from analysts after SpaceX's quarterly earnings, CEO Elon Musk gave more detailed thoughts about the prospects of a possible merger between SpaceX and his other main company, Tesla.
Both companies have formed special committees to discuss the idea, Musk said. The committees haven't reached an agreement and there's no guarantee they will, "but I do think there is a lot of merit in combining the companies," he said.
SpaceX's market cap was recently about $2 trillion. Tesla, which reports earnings tomorrow, has a market cap of about $1.45 trillion.
