Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana in 2025: Bitwise reveals ambitious predictions for cryptocurrencies

The cryptocurrency market is set to experience a year of major transformations, according to Bitwise Investments. The digital asset manager has just released its ambitious predictions for the cryptocurrencies Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana in 2025.

In a recently released report, Bitwise highlighted the potential rise of all three cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin reaching an impressive $200, while Ethereum is expected to hit $7 and Solana $750.

Bitcoin: Heading for new highs

The world's leading cryptocurrency, the Bitcoin , is expected to reach a historic $200 by 2025, according to Bitwise’s forecast. This growth would be driven by a number of factors, including growing institutional adoption, global inflation, and the asset’s scarcity. In addition, the firm predicts that more countries will follow El Salvador’s lead and include Bitcoin in their reserves, further strengthening its position as a store of value.

“Record inflows into bitcoin ETFs have sent bitcoin to new all-time highs in 2024. We don’t see this slowing down any time soon. Combine this demand with reduced new supply thanks to the April 2024 halving, plus new corporate and government purchases and… well, we’ve seen this play out before,” he wrote.

The company's analysts added that if the US government follows through with proposals to establish a strategic reserve of 1 million bitcoin, the expected US$200 becomes US$500 or more.

Ethereum: Consolidation imminent

O Ethereum is set to see a year of consolidation, according to a report by Bitwise. The firm predicts that the price of Ether will reach $7.000 by 2025, driven by ETFs and activity on Layer 2 blockchains, as well as the massive growth of stablecoins and tokenized projects built on Ether.

“Despite Ethereum’s 75,77% gain in 2024, the second-largest crypto asset has fallen out of favor with many investors who have set their sights on Bitcoin or fast-growing programmable blockchains that compete with Ethereum. But as Warren Buffet’s adage goes: ‘Be fearful when others are greedy, and be fearful greedy when others are fearful.’ We expect a narrative shift to take place for Ethereum in 2025, as activity on Layer 2 blockchains like Base and Starknet accelerates and Ethereum ETFs see billions in inflows. Another catalyst? Massive growth in stablecoins and tokenized projects built on Ether,” he wrote.

Solana: Resurfaces in 2025

Another cryptocurrency that is expected to shine in 2025 is Solana . The network, known for its high speed and low transaction costs, is expected to solidify itself as a major player in the decentralized finance (DeFi) and meme coin sectors. Bitwise projects that Solana will reach the $750 mark next year, driven by growing demand for its applications and the development of new projects on the platform.

“Crypto’s phoenix, which rose from the ashes of the 2022 market crash, has reached new heights in 2024, fueled by a memecoin mania that made the GameStop saga look tame. We believe Solana’s momentum is only just beginning to build. The catalyst in 2025 will be for “serious” projects to move to the network to complement their memecoin dominance. We’ve already seen early examples with projects like Render making the leap. We expect this to accelerate next year,” the report highlighted.
