US Permits Iranian Oil Tankers Passage Through Strait of Hormuz
According to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in a Monday interview with CNBC, the United States has been allowing Iranian oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Bessent explained to CNBC’s Brian Sullivan that Iranian vessels have already been leaving the region, with US approval, to help meet global energy demands.
Despite a significant US naval presence and recent Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf, Iran has managed to continue exporting millions of barrels of oil via this crucial maritime route. The Trump administration maintains its stance on monitoring the situation as tanker movements through the Strait have dropped sharply.
