Australia's Economic Indicators Show Continued Growth in Early 2026

In January 2026, Australia's Leading Economic Index® (LEI), as reported by The Conference Board, rose by 0.2% to reach 117.3 (with 2016 as the base year). This follows a 0.3% gain in December. Between July 2025 and January 2026, the LEI advanced by 2.3%, marking a notable acceleration compared to the modest 0.4% increase seen from January to July 2025.

The Conference Board's Coincident Economic Index® (CEI) for Australia also experienced growth, climbing 0.2% in January 2026 to 119.6, after a 0.3% rise in December. From July 2025 to January 2026, the CEI expanded by 1.2%, building on the 0.7% increase recorded in the previous six months.
