The Baltic Dry Index rises as freight rates for all vessel types increase
Golden Ten Data Futures, May 11 – According to foreign media reports, the Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index rose slightly on Monday, as freight rates for all vessel types increased. The Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index edged up by 23 points, or 1.8%, to 3,001 points. The index had reached its highest level since March 2024 on May 7. The Capesize vessel freight index rose 21 points, or 0.4%, to 4,976 points; average daily earnings for Capesize vessels increased by $192, reaching $41,630. The Panamax vessel freight index climbed 50 points, or 2.2%, to 2,283 points, its highest level since March 2024; average daily earnings for Panamax vessels increased by $449, reaching $20,548. The Supramax bulk carrier freight index edged up by 5 points, or 0.3%, to 1,527 points.
