Trump Sued Over Truth Social's Real-Time Feed for Traders -- WSJ

Two media organizations on Wednesday sued President Trump over his namesake company's real-time feed of top Truth Social accounts, arguing that selling preferential access to the president's statements is unconstitutional.

The Intercept news organization and nonprofit Freedom of the Press Foundation alleged that Trump Media's Truth API, which delivers a machine-readable feed of top Truth Social posts within milliseconds, violates the First and Fifth Amendments. The plaintiffs said delayed access to the president's statements would harm their ability to produce or support journalism.

Trump Media said this week that more than 10 customers have signed up for the recently launched API service. With clients such as high-frequency trading firms paying at least $60,000 a month, the product would mark one of the few ways in which Trump Media has been able to create revenue since going public in 2024.

A spokesman for Trump Media, which is 41% owned by the president, described the lawsuit as an attempt to censor Trump and harm the company's shareholders. "Information from President Trump is disseminated by countless platforms and news outlets, many of which offer subscription APIs," he said in a statement.

Deutsche Bank Research stated in its latest report that the era of large-scale policy interventions used to cushion global economic shocks over the past decades is coming to an end. The continuous rise in sovereign debt, high interest rates, and persistent inflation are all weakening the traditional “safety net” relied upon by governments and central banks.
