The Nasdaq composite is up more than 1% as investors ride a wave of adrenaline from SpaceX's heady earnings call Tuesday night and await Tesla earnings after the close. Nvidia and other chip stocks also are up after bullish comments from CEO Jensen Huang during a keynote speech in Berlin. Here's what's moving markets today:
-- Potential marriage of SpaceX and Tesla: Elon Musk sounded bullish on the possibility of a SpaceX-Tesla merger on SpaceX's earnings call Tuesday, and investors are excited about the possibility of the two companies joining forces. SpaceX has pared morning gains but is still up almost 8% today. Tesla is up 3%.
-- Unrest roils French markets: The French 10-year Treasury surpassed 5% in intraday trading and is on pace for the highest closing yield since 2002 after riots broke out following weeks of student-led protest.
-- Oil is down: Oil prices fell, reversing earlier gains as traders weighed a recovery in Middle East oil exports against persistent threats to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and attacks targeting Saudi Arabia. Brent crude futures were off about 0.2%.
